Why I Made This

I've always loved the calming feeling that comes from drawing repetitive patterns. But whenever I sat down with a blank page, I found myself asking the same question.

"What should I draw today?"

Sometimes the hardest part wasn't drawing. It was simply getting started.

That's why I created Aakriti.

Instead of asking you to create an illustration from scratch, Aakriti gives you thoughtfully designed shapes waiting to be transformed through your own patterns and imagination. You don't have to plan an artwork or worry about making it perfect. You simply pick a shape, begin filling it with patterns, and let your creativity unfold naturally.

To make learning even easier, I also included guided pattern pages and a separate reference booklet, so your inspiration is always within reach while you create.

Unlike a traditional sketchbook, every artwork page begins with a beautifully designed shape that invites you to fill it using patterns, lines, curves, dots, florals, or any style you imagine.

The notebook begins with six guided learning pages that introduce essential pattern techniques for beginners. • Step 1 — Learn the Basics. Start with the introduction and basic shapes pages (first 5 pages) to get familiar with the simple patterns used throughout the notebook.
• Step 2 — Trace. Move on to the three faded, pre-drawn designs. Simply trace over the soft outlines to bring each design to life — a relaxed, low-pressure starting point.
• Step 3 — Fill. Continue to the 21 outline pages, where you fill in the shapes using the patterns and techniques you've just practiced, adding your own colours, textures, and style.
• Step 4 — Create Freely. Finish with the three blank pages, where you can draw something entirely your own, without any outline or guide.
• A Note on Using the Pamphlet. If you find it difficult to draw while repeatedly flipping notebook pages, use the included pamphlet instead. It carries the same basic design pages and can stay open flat beside your notebook as a steady reference while you work.
